Kjell Askildsen is a celebrated writer of short stories and this collection won the norwegian paper Dagbladet's price for best norwegian work of fiction in the years 1981-2006. Askildsen writes in a minimalist style, but with a high level of precision and creativity it is more than enough food for thought.

The charming story makes the learning more interesting, all new vocabulary definitions only in Norwegian help to learn twice as much vocabulary, and concise grammar explanations are easy to comprehend. The author’s website is a great learning tool as well.
An incredible beautiful collection of short stories. Sad, painful & wonderful. Rishøi's language is economical and precise. She varies her narrative perspective, some of the stories are told by children, still sounding very authentically.
